If you're reading this message, you're one of our favorite people in the world and we're so happy you're here!
We hope the few items below will help in your planning as you consider whether you'll be able to join us:
Kids: Although we love your little ones, we regretfully cannot accommodate them at the wedding due to limited seating. There are a few babysitting options in town so please get in touch ASAP if you plan to attend and would like their contact.
Travel: Crested Butte (especially during peak wildflower season!) is an incredible place and we can't wait for you to experience this slice of Colorado heaven. Some of the allure comes from its somewhat-remoteness; it is a 4+ hour drive from the closest major airport (Denver), or a 1 hour regional flight to Gunnison (GUC), and a 30 minute drive to Crested Butte. We don't say this to dissuade you, but want to acknowledge up front that it is a full day of travel. If you plan to fly into DIA and drive, we would strongly suggest staying the night in Denver and driving the following morning to break up the day! (There are also limited shuttles/ride shares in CB, so having access to a car can be helpful, though not required.)
RSVP: Formal invite and details will follow. Although no RSVP is required yet, please inform us if you already know you'll be unable to attend to help us with planning. Alternatively, if you know for sure that you will be there, we highly suggest you book accommodation sooner than later. Crested Butte hosts an annual Wildflower Festival that ends the day many of you will arrive, so we expect the town to be buzzing through the weekend and want to ensure you have a comfortable place to stay!
How do I get to Crested Butte?
We understand Crested Butte is not easy to get to and thank you in advance for making the trip to celebrate with us. May I bring kids to the welcome party?
The welcome party will be held in the bar area of a (fun!) restaurant & a generally crowded space (CB is a small town, there are not many large venues!) so as long as you are comfortable with that, we'd love for you to bring them. As a reminder, CB has a "town" and a "mountain village" that are driving distance (~10 min) from one another. The welcome party is "in town", whereas the wedding is in the "mountain village" near the base of the gondola.
May I bring kids to the wedding?
Although we love your children, we regretfully cannot accommodate them at the wedding due to limited seating.
What is the attire?
We're going for ~Summer Mountain Chic~. If you haven't heard of that style, well, neither have we because we just made it up, but use your imagination :)
For women, think midi dresses with shoes with a thicker heel to walk on grass. For men, we would suggest pants with a jacket and no tie. It’s July in the mountains so make sure to protect your skin from the sun and wear something comfortable for the heat. For those visiting from out of state, know that while Colorado may be warm during the day, it always cools off at night so bring a light jacket or wrap. Check the weather the day of in case summer showers are predicted - dinner/dancing is covered, but the ceremony is not and we're doin' it rain or shine!
I have dietary restrictions. Will you be able to accommodate?
We will have gluten free and dairy free options. If you have any other dietary restrictions, please be sure to note that in your RSVP and we will do our best to accommodate.
Will you provide transportation?
During your stay, Crested Butte has a great public shuttle system. You can find more information out about it here: http://www.mtnexp.org/schedules-routes/summer/
For the wedding, there will be a shuttle service to run between Mountaineer Square (base of the gondola, Mt. Crested Butte) and the venue. Shuttles run every 20 minutes between Mountaineer Square and the Town of Crested Butte. There is very limited parking at the venue; please let use know if you need to drive so we can make sure there is space.
Where should I stay? Is Crested Butte walkable?
Great question - we have more information on the "Travel" tab above, but generally speaking: Crested Butte is made up of two smaller areas: the Town of Crested Butte, and Mount Crested Butte. The wedding itself is happening up on Mount Crested Butte, which is about a 10 minute drive up the mountain from the Town. The Welcome Party and After Party are happening in Town. Mount Crested Butte feels like the base village of a typical ski resort - hotels, a few restaurants, but mostly intended to serve the resort. The Town is where the character of Crested Butte is, with cute, fun shops, restaurants and generally more VRBO/Airbnb esque accommodations. The Town is very walkable in and of itself, as is Mount Crested Butte, but plan to drive or shuttle between the two unless you're out for some real exercise! (at almost 9000'!)
Can I take photos during the ceremony?
We invite you to be fully present with us. Please keep all devices turned off during the ceremony. We have hired a very talented photographer who will capture our day.
